Birmaharajpur College Birmaharajpur College, Birmaharajpur (Dist. Subarnapur) was started functioning in its initial years in Birmaharajpur High School, established in 1981 and the degree courses came into existence from 1983 with help of the financial contribution of various panchayats. It is one of the premier institutes established to impart & provide in the field of higher education to the deserving candidates and proves to be a milestone on the path of progress. The college is affiliated to the Sambalpur University, Sambalpur and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade (CGPA Score 2.36 on a 4 Point Scale in 1st Cycle) on 31st December 2009. It is a co-educational Institute that provides a regular course and plays a pioneering role in the field of higher education located in a rural part of a Birmaharajpur. The college is conferred with the status of grant-in-aid college where the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university. The college is awarded as the best college by the affiliating university and it has also received a number of awards in publication, offering scholarship & also awards from the different society. At the outset, the college offered two years intermediate courses in Arts and Science stream with various specializations under Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha and three years undergraduate courses in Arts and Science stream with various specializations under Sambalpur University, Sambalpur. But with the change of Education policy, +2 courses in the Arts and Science streams and +3 courses in the Arts stream were reintroduced in due time with effect from 1983–84, 1988–89 and 1985–86 respectively by replacing the traditional I.A. and B.A. pattern of education. Students have to choose one honor (core) subject with two or more as subsidiary (elective) subjects for the specific undergraduate streams. Apart from this, the college offers various honors subjects viz Oriya, History, Political Science, Economics, and Education as honours subjects in Arts stream and Physics, Chemistry, mathematics, Botany and Zoology in Science stream at the undergraduate level. Recently CBCS pattern of courses have been introduced in conformity with national curriculum of education.
